         The German Shephard is a large breed working dog originating in Germany. The dogs officially recognized name is German Shephard Dog in the english language sometimes abbreviated as GSD, and was formally known as the Alsatian and Alsatian Wolf Dog in Britain. They are part of the herding group, Shephards are working dogs originally developed for herding sheep. Since then because of their strength, intelligence, train ability, and obedience, german shephards around the world are the preferred breed for many types of work.

             German Shephards were bred specifically for intelligence, a trait for which they are now famous they are able to quickly learn various tasks and interpret instructions better then other large breeds. Thats why they are used for search and rescue, police, military roles and even acting.

             Shephards have a double coat, the outer coat, which sheds all year around, is close and dense with a thick undercoat. Shephards are highly active dogs and described as self assured. They are willing to learn and have an eagerness to have a purpose. They are curious which makes them great guard dogs and suitable for search missions. They can become over protective of their family and territory, especially if not socialized properly. They are not inclined to become friends with strangers right away.

            Our Shephards are black and tan straight backs. Mother is King Shephard and Father is Belgiam/King Shephard so they are rather large dogs.
